Ryker: The Moxie of Speed
Real Name: Aaron Reeves
Sexual Orientation: Unknown, possibly Asexual
Home Town: Chicago, Illinois
Power: Leech the kinetic energy off of nearby objects or people, thereby increasing his speed to proportional levels.
Ability: Enhanced senses allow Ryker to maintain control of himself during high speed runs.
Weakness: Without moving objects nearby for Ryker to steal from, he is completely incapable of movement.
Cause of Death: Burned to death in a hospital fire.
Goal(s): To see everything there is in the world.
Personality: If Ryker had even heard of the phrase “No Man Is an Island” he’d no doubt consider himself the exception. Ryker’s only concern in life is himself and living it outside of anyone’s oversight or control. He goes where he wants and does what he wants. While he shows no contempt for others, he doesn’t show concern either. So while he is not one to cause undo harm to innocents, any attempt or threat to restrain, imprison, or otherwise control him is enough to send him into a blind rage.
Why were they chosen as the Moxie of Speed?: The sorrow, rage, and pain during most of his life drew the attention of Stanley, who felt such a broken person would add much more excitement to his little game. Though Ryker proved powerful, Stanley did not get the warrior he was looking for.

They say a man is judged by what he does or says during his time on Earth. Whatever sort of man Aaron Reeves would have been will never be known. At the age of 10, Aaron was the sadly the victim of a horrible car crash, that not only cost him his family but also rendered him completely paralyzed. Fully conscious but unable to act or speak, and with no extended family to speak of, Aaron found himself taken in by the state and transferred to a hospital where he would spend the rest of his life. For the next 15 years Aaron was trapped in a living Hell, unable to do nothing but lie there and think about all the things taken from him: his family, his body, and, most importantly, his dream of ever seeing the outside world. Every day brought him closer to the brink of madness. On the day the hospital burned to the ground, as the smoke and flames crept into his room, Aaron closed his eyes and welcomed the end to his nightmare. He had no idea that the blaze was no accident or that the same force has even darker plans for him.
Though Ryker has no memories of his time as Aaron, the emotions he felt in life were too great for Stanley to completely remove. His past life’s dream of seeing the outside world subconsciously drives him to that task, even if he can no longer explain why. Those same buried memories are triggered when faced with someone threatening to return him to what he was: a prisoner. Many of Stanley’s slaves were sent to return this free spirit to his thrall, but none survived, having been torn to pieces by a seemingly invisible force and what little remained scattered for miles.
After continued losses Stanley eventually called off his hunters and decided to let Ryker be. He realized that Ryker was a truly independent force unwilling to work for others, even his enemies. Even if the Heart Society were to approach him in a gesture of acceptance, his hunter’s assault had given him a hostile attitude against of others of his kind. Conflict would no doubt ensue and whoever lost, he would be the true victor in the end.
Unlike most Moxies, Ryker’s body is not the same as it was in life. Though his appearance is the same, his body is stronger than it was in life, where it was severely atrophied from years of immobility. Standing at around 5’ 6’’, Ryker’s body is lanky but well muscled from years of running and physic exertion. His face is youthful, but shows some small signs of age from his exposure to the elements. His eyes are a soft shade of blue, but can still frighten those who fall under his glare. As for hair, he keeps his head shaved because it is low maintenance and it prevents it from obscuring his vision during runs.
Because of the high wear and tear his powers put upon his clothes, Ryker is often in need of replacements. He mainly focuses on outfits that can survive his life-style and provide storage for the few trinkets he’s collected in his travels. To that end he’s usually seen wearing thick khaki traveling pants with plenty of storage pockets along with a matching vest over any t-shirt he can find. He has long since given up on shoes since none can last more than a few days before completely falling apart.
The final piece of his appearance is the one that marks him as a Moxie. The tattoos resemble bolts of white lightning that stand out against Ryker’s complexion, almost like scar tissue. They started around his ankles when he was born, but after his fights with Stanley’s hunters, the bolts have traveled up his legs and have currently stopped around his mid-section. Due to Ryker’s previously mentioned choice in fashion, his markings are hidden from most prying eyes giving little hint to the strength he truly possesses.
